An Exciting Piece of Mail...

A couple days ago a piece of mail arrived from the Research College of Nursing. At first, I thought it was probably some sort of reminder about summer fees coming up, or a receipt from this semester's bill - you know, really fun stuff! (insert sarcastic voice inflection) However, once opened we found this...

The letter states that Jessica made the Dean's List for the fall semester of Nursing School!!!! I could not be more proud of her. She has been working SO hard to do well in her classes and clinicals - not to mention the time and effort she has put in at home to help raise Reegan and keep me in line too. I don't know how she does it, but she does it, and I couldn't be happier that her hard work is being recognized!! Congratulations sweetie! I love you!

Baby Sign Language

This morning we attended a baby sign language class that was offered through the Olathe Parents as Teachers. It was so much fun. We sang songs and went through some basic sign language for the kids. Reegan really seemed to enjoy herself.
At one point they brought out the balls and all the kids started moving. It was kinda distracting, but cute.
This was Reegan's favorite of all the balls, not sure if it was the color or size? She kept following it around the room.
For the last song they brought out musical instruments...
I hope there are more classes offered like this, because it was so much fun to get out of the house and see Reegan interact with other kids since we don't get to see her while she is at daycare.

Barnes and Noble

Reegan is a very lucky girl. For Christmas my Papa and Nana gave her a Barnes and Noble gift card to expand her reading selection. After church today we headed to the mall to pick up a few things and to let Reegan pick out her books.

Reegan LOVED it. By the time we would put 3 books back on the shelf, she had 5 more pulled off. She would stand on her tippy-toes to reach as high as she could and just smile. I think she only looked at 2-3 pages in each book, but she had a blast. We finally decided on Olivia the pig (I'm so excited about this one!) and a very large book of nursery stories. Reegan wont be able to look at this one by herself just yet, but Jason and I look forward to reading it to her!

I was suprised to see how many books there are on potty training...I thought about getting one of these but decided I am at least one year ahead of myself.

11 MONTHS OLD

I think time is playing a trick on me. My little Reegan Noelle is 11 months old. Every month that passes I think about the future and how much I look forward to the months and years ahead, but I am sad at the same time. My baby is not going to be my baby for much longer. Every now and then I will see glimpses of the cuddly baby who would snuggle up to our chest for a nap. Reegan was always a baby who loved to move and that love is just growing and growing. She's cuter than ever and amazingly fun! She is now 20.2 pounds and 29 inches tall!

Reegan loves looking at books and will sit on our laps for us to read a book, but we have read fast because she gets restless easily.

This is Reegan's favorite way to sleep. She pulls her knees underneath her stomach and has her bottom up in the air. So cute!

Reegan is a great sleeper at night. Over Christmas break, she would sleep until 9:00 every day. It was wonderful because then I could sleep in a little too. One morning after I went back to school and Reegan went back to daycare she decided to get up early. I think it was about 6:30 or so and wasn't sure if she wanted to go back to sleep. After some cuddle time with Jason, she decided to take a nap on our bed while Jason got ready for work. (don't worry, even though she was on our bed it was only for a few minutes and Jason was with her the whole time. She wasn't going to roll off)
Reegan has gotten so good at feeding herself. She eats just about everything we put in front of her and is even in the process of transitioning to whole milk! What a big girl!

Here are some 11 month pics I attempted to take. I am not sure why I bother anymore...she is always half off the chair anyways

I even tried pics in her chair, but it didn't work much better

The favorite thing these days is walking! She still doesn't have the best balance, but is working on it. She walks everywhere she can. We even had an incident report sent home from daycare this last week because she was walking and tripped and hit her face on the bookshelf. Poor baby even has a bruise across her face.

Why I love our daycare

It is hard enough finding a daycare that takes infants and it is even harder finding one that takes infants only 2 days a week. Jason and I felt so lucky when we found our current center. They have wonderful teachers, serve organic food, "teach" them baby sign language, AND make cute holiday gifts for the parents. For Thanksgiving they made us a placemat with Reegan's hand print turned into a turkey!

For Christmas we received a ornament and a stocking. Notice the reindeer is Reegan's foot print and hand prints. SO CUTE

Reegan is always on the move, walking and crawling everywhere. Her latest discovery is the dish washer. Yesterday she realized that she can climb up onto and examined what was inside. I thought this was really funny and of course cute...Jason did not. Good news is that he was not at home to witness it first hand, he only saw the pictures.

A New Year

2011 is finally here, and we ended 2010 on a great note! We got to hang out with some of our best friends over at Will and Kali's house for the second straight NYE.

We spent most of the evening playing games, chatting, and even had a rockin' dance session right after midnight. :)

We LOVE our friends so much, and feel so blessed to have so many truly wonderful people in our lives. (Plus they're all providing friends for Reegan to play with!)

We are looking forward to whatever life will bring us in 2011. Hopefully more of the same that we experienced this last year.

Here's a quick look back at some of our major events of 2010:

1) REEGAN was born!! Can't really top this one. :)

2) Jess officially began nursing school...looking forward to completing school this year and starting her new career.

3) Jason moved into his Manager role at work.

4) Got to take two "extended weekend" vacations - Chicago and...

5) Jess won us the Cruise to the Bahamas!

It was a wonderful year. Hope all of you had one that was just as great!
