vacation- part 2

Sunday, June 12 we left after lunch and drove to Outer Banks, NC. It was beautiful and a great and we wished we had more days there.  Didn't want to leave!

Checking out the beach when we arrived before heading to dinner.
Dinner we had fried shark bites.
Coffee at the beach? Maybe the most perfect thing ever!!!
The first 2 days Emerson didn't want anything to do with wet sand or the water, so she sat in the shade and played.
The big kids (and Jason) loved the water!

 Yum!

Gavin was amazing at spotting the ghost crabs. We only saw 2 but he was the one to spot them both times!
Reegan worked so hard on her castle and was so proud of herself!
Our drive from the mainland to the island. Longest bridge ever.

We went to the sand dunes on afternoon before dinner. It was amazing. Sand as far as we could see and not hot to walk on. We would have spent a lot longer if we had a sled to ride down the dunes.  Maybe next time. Also at the top we could see the ocean on both sides of us.
 More sand dunes.
 Another day at the beach.

 We found some amazing shells.

Our last morning at the beach Emerson had finally warmed up to the idea of the ocean and enjoyed playing in it.

We had a blast and hated to see the beach time go. We hope to go back soon!

vacation part 1

I am so far behind blogging for the summer! I'll post the small every day events later and skip straight to our vacation. Oh did we enjoy ourselves. It was a great time. We managed to fit a lot into 10 days! We flew into Washington DC for multiple reasons, but mostly because it saved us a lot of money to do so. Cheap, non-stop flight. We then rented a car, picked up Brittany and headed to Raleigh NC.

The main event of this part of the trip was Ashley and Josh's wedding. We managed to squeeze many things into these 4 days. Meals with family, a day at the beach with extended family, a trip to an awesome park, rehearsal dinner and then the main event. Here are pictures from this part of the trip in no particular order (mainly because I can't figure out an easy, non-time consuming way to move them).

Lunch at the beach

 Getting ready for the rehearsal
 Practicing walking down the aisle.
 Rehearsal dinner

Wedding day! Getting her hair done, she was so excited to be one of the big girls.
 My handsome boy
 Ready to dance!!!
 Wedding time!

Reegan was so excited she caught the bouquet!

Driving home from the beach day with family.
Post bath with a hand towel wrapped around her.
 Dinner with family

 Beach baby!

Dance party in the stairwell. There were events going on at the square outside our hotel every night. On this night there was a concert.
 Park day with cousin Kenna
 Walking to the Rehearsal.

At the park. This was such a neat park: train, paddle boats, fastest carousal ever and lots to climb on

We had a great time and the kids were wonderful. Very well behaved and they walked down the aisle at the wedding like professionals. We were so proud and had a great time dancing the evening away.
