Airplanes

Jason gets a Saturday every 3 weeks of some extra special time with the kids while I recover and prepare for the weekend night shift working.  I'm envious of the fun they get to have, but am so thankful for this time they get to nurture their relationship without my opinions and commentary.
Last Saturday he took the kids to the Olathe Executive Airport to watch the plans take off and eat lunch. An added bonus for my non-planning (he calls it spontaneous) husband is that they were having an airshow.
And yes, Gavin climbs on everything, always
Jason's grandfather loves to fly, Jason's dad loved to fly and used to take Jason to this same airport as a kid many Saturday mornings.  Jason loves planes and flying and has looked forward to the day when history could repeat itself and he could bring his kids to this very place.

The kids loved it.  Jason loved it.  I loved it, because the house was quiet for a couple hours and I got to sleep! Win, win, win.
I expect there will be many trips in the near future!

Videos

First video is of Gavin showing us what he knows how to do.  He is very independent and if he's not interested in showing you he doesn't, no persuasion.  Here is a video of Reegan at about the same age doing the same sort of thing

Reegan is amazing us everyday, her memory is very impressive.  Honestly, I really don't like this book, It is just another reminder to me that time is fleeting,.

The Farmstead

Our summertime favorite is Deanna Rose Farmstead.  We spend a morning at least once a week walking around and this summer Reegan has been on baby cow watch.  One of the cows was due to have a baby in August and all summer she has asked to see if the brown cow had its baby.  This week we saw it! And, Reegan and the other kids got to help feed the baby its bottle.  She was in heaven.

A few weeks ago Jason got to join us and we spent a Saturday morning walking around with Reegan showing us the animals.  This was before we left.  This girl is so big and so cute.  She always crosses her ankles!

It was safety day at the farmstead and they had fire trucks, ambulances, and a helicopter for the kids to climb in.

Jason loves all things that fly and I think he was just as excited as the kids.

After the helicopter took off Reegan went on her very first pony ride.

The weather had been cooling off this week and we have been soaking it up.  Evening walks and park excursions are exactly what we need before things turn cold.

Preschool

Reegan grew up.  I've tried to stop it from happening, but she did it.  This week she started preschool.

Its really hard to see, but she wrote preschool on her whiteboard all by herself.  I tell her the letter and she knows how to write it.  I don't know how or when this happened.
She loves it, we got out of the car and she practically ran in the church.  Reegan loves her packpack as she calls it and gets to take her lunch on Thursday's which adds to the excitement.
 A close up!

Here she is telling you all about it prior to her second day!

End of Summer

We had an amazing weekend: great weather and lots of family time.  The holiday weekend started off at Coach's bar and grill to cheer on the KSU wildcats and celebrate Jason turning 3-0.  Saturday was a lazy day at home, cleaning and getting a few projects done.  Sunday after church and naps we headed to Black Bob Bay to swim.  We only make it here a couple of times every summer, but we love it.  A great zero entry pool, baby pool, slide perfect for Reegan, a lazy river and much more.  Monday morning, after the kids slept in until 9:00 (and Jason snuck in 9 holes of golf), we took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed down to the plaza and Kauffman Gardens.  Jason and I took wedding pictures here 7 years ago and this was the first time we have been back.  Reegan was in a great mood and was excited to pose for pictures.

 Gavin was not...
Gavin was not excited to do anything.  He repeatedly threw himself on the floor and screamed, I can't believe how early these fits have started with him.  He has also already started the kicking of his legs, stiffening his body and throwing himself on the ground.  It's a joy :)
 Sister was a big help!

Reegan kept thinking these mums were the "wishing" flowers aka the weeds that grow in your yard that lose their petals when you blow on them.

There was another girl doing her senior pictures and Reegan was very interested in her and her poses.

We gave up on pictures of just Gavin, he was in no mood to humor us.  We headed to the plaza for lunch at CPK and a little shopping.  Then it was home for nap.  We head back to the real world tomorrow, so we took one last outing to the park and Orange Leaf for ice cream.

Gavin was in a much better mood after his much needed nap of almost 3 hours.

So sad to see summer end, but Fall is my favorite time of the year, and I already have some family outings planned.  Grumpy moments and all, these 3 are my favorite people to spend time with and I am totally down with a 3 day weekend every week!
