8 months

Our little guy is 8 months old!  8 months sounds so old and we're now on the downward slope until one year. I'm not ready for that day to come.
Gavin is officially a CRAWLER, so we weren't sure how this month's photo shoot would go.
He did surprisingly well.  Although he did try to figure out ways to escape...

Gavin is a very happy boy these days!  His sister gets him to laugh better than anyone and it's so cute to watch them together.

Everything about him is so cute, except the drool.  I could live without the drool.
He hasn't started standing in his crib yet (mostly due to the fact that he is STILL partially swaddled at night) but we figure it's only a matter of time.
More brother/sister love going on here! :)

And more drool...

We don't really have any stats to share right now, but we will tell you we are about to buy Reegan a new car seat because Gavin is going to need the one she's in ASAP!  The boy is really tall, and has basically outgrown his infant carrier in that regard.  So, yay for Reegan!  She gets an upgrade.  :)
Our little guy is sick right now too.  A very high fever, although no ear infection or flu or anything.  Just has to run its course according to the doc.  Poor guy.  :(

3

February 11 was the day that Reegan turned 3.  Times really flies! She is such a joy and we thank God every day for the wonderful/challenging/amazing/frustrating-at-times job that we were given of raising this sweet, sensitive girl.

We went to the doctor last week for her 3 year check-up and was pleasantly suprised that we didn't need any shots.  PTL.  Reegan is 32 pounds, 75%ile and 38.5 inches and 80%ile.  She has a mouth full of teeth, blue eyes and blond hair (that is slowly becoming darker).  She is BEAUTIFUL.

Reegan is a great eater and loves to eat fruits and vegetables.  She also loves salty food- chip and french fries are her favorite.  She is not a huge fan of sweets, but is becoming more adventurous with them.  Anytime Jason or I are eating anything she wants to try it as well.  She usually likes it and then ends up eating half of it.

Reegan continues to be very shy and reserved...until she gets to know you.  Sometimes she will talk to strangers and smile at them.  Othertimes she hides behind our legs.  She has the sweetest, softest voice and knows just how to ask to get her way.  When she gets loud, she gets real loud.  She loves to read books outloud and can be heard from all over the house.

Reegan loves to make us laugh.  She makes jokes or does something silly.  If we laugh, she then does it 10 more times.  She has started telling us about her day and holding a conversation with us.  I am amazed at what she knows, she is so smart.
Reegan is very opinionated.  From the second she wakes up she knows just what she wants.  She tells us what she wants to eat for breakfast, usually pancakes or oatmeal.  Then what she wants to wear and how she wants her hair done.  We can sometimes convince her of what we want, but sometimes we cannot and only what she wants will do.
Reegan is a nurturer and the best big sister.  She wants to be wherever Gavin is and does her best to entertain him when he gets cranky.  She repeats everything we say and loves to play peek-a-boo with him.  They will lay on the floor together and laugh.  If Gavin starts getting fussy, she'll often say "its OK, I here now" and run over to see him.  Every day she asks to play with him and wants to help feed him.  I love seeing them together and cannot wait to see how this relationship grows.

Reegan enjoys practicing her gymnastics many times during the day.  She also loves to play games.  Right now she loves candyland, chutes and ladders, go fish, and matching.  It has been amazing the last few months to see how her imagination has grown.  Reegan also loves to color and if the words project or arts and craft are mentioned she gets so excited.

I could go on and on.  She is amazing and I do not know how we got so lucky to raise her and call her ours.  Our life has been blessed tremendously by witnessing this baby grow and develop into a little lady.  She keeps us on our toes and challenges us, but has taught us how to love unconditionally and we are better people because of her.

Words to describe Reegan:

Jessica: caring, passionate, beautiful, thoughtful, creative

Jason: imaginative, intellegant, playful, nurturing, sweet

13 in 13

I know its already February, but better late than never right?

Jason and I decided to do something a little different this year with New Years Resolution.  We usually don't make them, because we've never followed through with them.  So we made a 13 things to do in 2013.  I know clever :)  Here they are, in no particular order.  I'll try to update you as we go along.

Run 1/2 marathon
Vacation- TBD
Dinner at 6 new restaurants
Recarpet house
Go to a KSU game (bball or football)
Plant an official backyard garden
Date night once a month
1 big task a month- paint/new backsplash in kitchen, playroom in basement, go through closets
Read books- at least 4, but hopefully a lot more
Savings account increase (we have a number but I'm not gonna tell you :)
Family activity each month- zoo, aquarium, picnic
Eat more real food (more on this later)
Donate clothes/toys/etc

We did a good job in January.  Went to Michael Smith Restaurant, took the kids to Union Station to see the train exhibit and ate lunch, I read a book, and organized our room and donated some clothes we don't wear anymore.  Jason and I also went on a date to eat dinner on the plaza.  February hasn't been as productive, but we've still got a couple weeks to go!

Birthday Party

Reegan has looked at the invitation to her birthday party every day for the last few weeks.  She would point it out to us and then ask us when it was.  Well, today was the day.  We told her last night this morning was the day so while eating breakfast she asked about her candle.  "Happy birffday to me?"  She asked.  We broke out the candle and sang away.

And yes, this is what her hair looks like most mornings!
My sister designed these double sided postcard invites.  Pancakes and pajamas was our theme.
I found this banner idea on a website and tortured Jason by making him cut everything out for me.  I have been told that we will be using it forever because it was so labor intensive.  I think it was well worth it, I LOVE the way it turned out.

Reegan was so excited and loved the reading nook we set up for today.  Reegan's grandmother made her pajamas for the occasion and added the 3 to her shirt and everything!
We didn't have any games planned so the kids roamed around and dug through the toys instead.
Gavin's already scoping out Reegan's friends.

Along with pancakes, we had fruit toppings, bacon, mini cinnamon rolls, and milk in these cute glass bottles with paper straws.

Gavin even attempted to eat some pancake though I'm not sure how much actually ended up in mouth.
Such a ham, our girl.

Present time!  We have such great friends.

We still have a family party coming up and Reegan's actual birthday is Monday.  So excited to celebrate her all weekend long.  Its amazing how much has changed in 3 years and yet, its hard to remember a time before Reegan.    LOVE her!
