More Videos!

Here are a couple more videos of our favorite girl! This first one is a little bit of Reegan "showing off" her words and sign language skills. She is really getting the hang of the signs especially which is so great. She even uses them without prompting to tell us what she needs/wants...sometimes. :)

Reegan is becoming VERY loving as of late. She will give everyone and everything hugs and kisses. It's too cute! Her daycare teachers even told us that there was a little boy in her class this week that was crying and Reegan went over to him and gave him a big hug! If only we could have been there to see that...so sweet. She's also becoming more and more obsessed with our dogs. She loves to pet them and give them hugs too. You'll also notice Bella is pretty much in doggy heaven too. I think they're becoming best buds. :)

Surgery Day

This morning was a somewhat nervous one for us. Reegan had to go in for surgery to have tubes put in her ears. :( She's been having ear infections frequently over the last 6 months, and the doctor suggested tubes as a remedy (we were really glad we did especially when the Dr this morning told us she had developed double ear infections, even though one week ago she finished antibiotics and ears were clear). We got up bright and early this morning to take her in.

While we waited to go back to her prep room Reegan enjoyed a couple books on Mommy's lap...

And the waiting room had Sponge Bob on the TV...

She had to be weighed and got to stand on the big girl scale!

We got her all dressed in her gown and ready to go. She was SO good while we were waiting. She even laid her head down on the pillow on her bed!

She really enjoyed playing around the hospital bed. She had to check everything out!

And they brought in this tiny little cuff to take her blood pressure with...I've never seen one this small. So cute!!

The nurse took her off to the operating room and she was SO brave.

The entire procedure only took about 5 minutes and Reegan did so great! She was not a fan of the anesthesia, but you can bet that she will be cuddled and loved on all day today. It's never easy to watch your baby have to go through surgery, and though this was a rather routine and simple one, we couldn't help but be so thankful that the doctor was able to do what he needed and keep our baby safe. Hopefully we're done with the ear infections and the tubes will do their thing!

Hiking Anyone?

This past weekend, Jason and I decided to head out of the house, enjoy the nice weather, get the dogs some exercise, and go for a hike! We drove out to Shawnee Mission Park to hit the trails. It was a beautiful day and a great idea in theory...what we didn't plan for was that the trail would be shaded and still muddy from the rain that came 5 days prior. So, after a short hike, we turned around and headed for the paved path.
Jason carried Reegan for the first part and I then I carried her at the end. While Jason carried her, she kept reaching out and holding onto his ears, maybe he was walking too fast for her... While I was carrying her, Reegan kept waving at Jason. I think she felt very important being up so high!
It looks like we may have to wait a couple more weeks before we attempt to hike again, but we look forward to it!

13 months old

Reegan has changed so much over the last couple of months. She has been walking since she was 10-11 months old, but now has been working on walking backwards. She only gets a couple of steps before she falls, but it is cute to watch. She also has gotten much faster and tries to "run" from us! Her new favorite activity is turning off the lights. Whenever we carry her into a room, she reaches her finger out and wants us to take her to the light switch. She is becoming much more verbal. She says mama, dada, dog, hi, shoes (only sometimes, the other times she points to her feet), and we think we are at the beginning of I love you. It doesn't sound much like I love you, but she says it after we say it and fluctuates her voice just like we do. She also knows more sign language than I realized. Jason and I have not done a good job of being consistant in teaching her sign language, but just in the past few weeks she has been showing off what she does know: eat, drink, all done, more. She claps, waves, gives highfives and blows kisses. Reegan is still not much of a napper, never has been. She sleeps great at night, goes to bed between 7 and 8 and wakes up 12 hours later. She usually takes one decent nap (90 min) and one short nap (30min). She is still obsessed with food, makes sure that we do not forget to feed her! There is nothing that she refuses to eat :) Here she is eating a snack, she was hard at play so we brought snack to her, don't worry, usually she does eat in her highchair.

Reegan loves the dogs and pets/pulls their hair all the time! She also loves the dogs bed. She walks over to them and falls flat onto the beds and then rolls around with them.

Hard at work...

Friday we had a friend over. Cade and Reegan played great together, they followed each other around the house and were partners in crime!

Cade was very interested in the camera! He must know what to do when a camera comes out since his mom also takes many pictures.

Enjoying the nice weather and spending some time outside.

Reegan enjoying her birthday present, when she gets much older it turns into a scooter.

Reegan is a very happy girl and we feel so blessed that we were given the role of her parents.

A New Toy

While we are obviously parents of a one-year-old little girl, and you would probably expect any toys that we purchase to be used by miss Reegan, the latest and greatest "toy" to come into the Heine home is really for her Mom and Dad. We've been talking about upgrading our camera for quite some time now. We started saving a little bit here and there, and once we received our larger than expected tax refund this year, we made the purchase! A brand new Canon Rebel XS!! It came with a whole kit that included two different lenses and a carrying bag. While this camera is a huge step up from our little "point and shoot" that we had been using, we are SO excited to play with this one. It can do so many things and takes such great quality pictures.

Our main goal is to be a little more artistic with our pictures. Mainly those of our precious baby. Also, to be able to take pictures a little quicker. Reegan would do something cute and by the time our camera would actually take the pic, she would be turned around and we would get the back of her head! The most difficult thing so far has been trying to figure out what all of the features are and then how to edit the photos themselves. For now, we thought we would simply put up a few examples of the raw photos we've been snapping. Enjoy! :)

Finally, a little bit of humor for you all. If you have kids, you may be familiar with the face Reegan is making in the next picture...that's right - this is her "poop face." We couldn't help but share this because it makes us laugh every time we see her do this. Haha!

Can Somebody Help?!

These days, Reegan is non-stop action. She goes all over our house looking for something to play with...and that's even with her having a HUGE basket of toys and books sitting in our living room. She is always exploring and really tries hard to figure new things out. For instance, we've baby proofed the cabinets in the kitchen, and she will pull the handles and then reach through the very small opening to try to get the pots and pans and whatever else is hiding behind them. Her curiosity is so cute to watch!

One day, we had left her Bumbo chair out on the floor. She doesn't ever use it anymore because she's too big now, but she obviously remembers what it's for!! Check it out...
