1 month!

Hard to believe that our little baby is already 1 month old.  Maybe I can't call him my little baby, because he isn't so little.  Today was the appointment and we found out that he is 11 pounds, 6 ounces and 23 inches tall.  He is 79%ile in weight and 87%ile in height.  Just for comparison Reegan was 7 pounds, 10 ounces at birth (Gavin was 9 pounds, 3 ounces) and at 1 month was 8 pounds, 14.5 ounces (50%ile) and 21 7/8 inches (75%ile).  Both babies had a smaller head, Reegan 35% and Gavin 19%.  He is starting to out grow some of his 0-3 month clothes and is starting to move into 3-6 months.

I do get the "wow, he's only 1 month, he looks like a 2-3 month old" comment.  He sure is cute though!
I also hear that he looks just like Jason too.  I don't see it, but at the same time I don't see how Reegan looks just like me, but strangers will stop me to tell me, so it must be true!  I'm happy, maybe now we'll each have a little mini-me.
Eyes are bright blue and his hair is blonde, has the Heine family hair line too :)
Loves to eat (obviously), eats about every 3 hours day and night though has starting giving me some 4 hour stretches at night.
Loves to be outside.  In the evenings when he is crying, I'll take him outside and sit on the pourch for a little while.   He quiets right down, he's looking towards the window here and trying to see outside.  Gavin loves going for walks.
He is very alert during his awake times and makes wonderful eye contact.  Any sudden movement and his eyes get very wide and he looks so surprised.  I see this most often on our walks if we hit a bump in the side walk or if sister comes running into the room.
Gavin is not the easiest baby.  He wants to be held all the time and gets very angry when he is left alone.  It also seems like he has some colic.  I have given up dairy, once again, not sure why my kids develop this dairy intolerance and reflux, and we're starting some gas drops today to see if that helps. Evenings are kinda difficult because he is often very cranky and fights going to sleep.  I go back to work in a few weeks, so hopefully he outgrows this before the night-shifts start again.

Photo shoot was over when someone kept face planting on the couch.  He knows how to get his way :)
We are so incredibly in love with this little man, I honestly feared I would not be able to love him like I love Reegan, but its amazing how much love one can have!  We are so greatful for this wonderful gift that God instilled in us in raising him to be the person he was created to be.  What a huge task, but we're so thankful he is ours.

Catch-up

I guess I have a little catching-up to do.  The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind, but were getting the hang of this two child thing.

Gavin got his first tub-bath and actually didn't cry.  I think he enjoys these baths.  They must relax him because he always sleeps great after!  I think we'll remember this when we have an evening of overtired baby.
"Dad, why is she taking pictures?"
The weather has been super hot, but we did manage to clean out the garage and sell a few items on Craig's list.  Reegan was not interested in cleaning, so she played in the water table.  Gavin wasn't interested either, so he slept.
"Dad, she's taking pictures again..."
During a trip to Home depot, I picked out a can of spray paint and have since proceeded to turn more than a few things yellow!  I love how summery this is going to make our outdoors!
Reegan loving on Gavin...sister loves her brother, a little too much sometimes.
Our evenings,  trying to relax before everyone heads off to bed!
such a handsome little guy
Today Gavin is 1 month old and last night Reegan started gymnastics.  I'll post pictures of those soon!  Thats a promise!

Cutest kids ever :)

I think so anyways :)  Jason went back to work this week, so I have been in full multi-tasking mode trying to stay on-top of everything that needs to get done around here.  I haven't been the greatest about it, hence the lack of pictures that have been taken and lack of those posted here.  As I write this, I am also eating lunch waiting for the baby monitor to tell me that Gavin is once again awake and wanting to eat.  Boy is going through a serious growth spurt already.  I took him back to the doctor yesterday to have his cord looked it and he weighs 9lbs, 8 oz.  That is a 12 ounce gain in 8 days.  He is also 22 inches, thats 3/4 inch taller than 8 days ago...

There have been some wonderful moments that I have been able to capture.  Reegan just adores her brother and wants to know whats he doing at all moments.  She also wants to be a part of everything and requests to "hold it" about 20 times a day.

We are loving life as a family of 4, and it seems like Gavin has been a part of our lives for much longer than 16 days.  He is such a good baby, good eater and good sleeper, we couldn't ask for more!

Bowling

As many of you may or may not know, I (Jason) grew up bowling quite a bit.  I bowled in leagues and tournaments, and I really loved the game.  So, needless to say I was PUMPED to take Reegan bowling for the first time last week!  We figured it was the perfect opportunity to take her while I was home for paternity leave and the bowling alley had a special for kids on Thursday mornings that was perfect.

First we got her fitted with the proper footwear!

And then a ball.  She got really excited about this!  We weren't entirely sure she'd even be able to pick it up, let alone roll it, but she did great!

I helped her get the first couple of shots down the lane...

Then she took over and did it all by herself!!

Gavin came along to "watch" although I'm not sure he really saw much of anything.  ;)

I'd say it was a success!  We actually ended up bowling a second game because she was having so much fun!  Plus it was nice to have a cheering section - every time I took a turn, I would walk back and Reegan would say "good job Daddy!"  She's the best!

Plus, the girl can BOWL.  Look at that score!

First:

Gavin has been having some firsts around here:

First Bath- he was not a fan as we expected.  I can't wait for that cord to fall off so it no longer takes 2 of us to control this squirmy guy!

We also went to the doctor for his 1 week check-up.  Little guy is looking great and growing like a champ.

He currently weighs 8lbs, 12 oz (61%ile), 21.25 inches (81%ile) and his head is 15%ile.  Gavin is not up to birth weight yet, but he is well on his way.  He is one healthy guy and so far has been pretty easy going, just like his sister was.  He falls alsleep whenever we leave the house (which isn't often) and has even started sleeping for longer at night.  Every night this week I have had to wake him up after 5 hours to eat.  I know this wont last, but I'm enjoying the little longer stretches while I can get them.  If only we could get Reegan to sleep in longer...

Lately...

While Little Brother has been spending most of his days doing this...

Big Sister is loving this and asks to do it all day long...(may have to turn your volume up to hear the medley of songs)
