3 & 4 Months

I'm a little behind, again.  We took Gavin's 3 month photos on time, but forgot to post them. I realized this past week that we forgot, but it was almost 4 month time, so here they both are.

We go to the doctor in another week and a half and I am so looking forward to hearing his weight and current percentiles.  This is one big boy!

3 months

4 months!

Practicing his modeling.
Gavin is becoming quite the little man now.  He seems so much older than 4 months and honestly, I am kinda sad about this.  He has his 2 lower teeth and is drooling buckets.  Just like Reegan when she was a baby, he loves to stand and look around, jump in our laps, and generally be moving.  He started rolling from front-to-back and back-to-front at 3 1/2 months, but doesn't do it very often.  He keeps us on our toes.
The biggest thing is a couple days before his 4 month "birthday" he started sitting up!  Well, kinda.  He's more like a tripod and can only old it for a few minutes at a time, but he loves it!
Life is good! October has been a whirlwind and I can't believe its almost over.

Apple Orchard

Fall has arrived!  In fact, there have been some cold days, today being one!  We started what I hope will be yearly tradition of hitting up the apple orchard.  It was exactly what I hoped it would be.  Now, I'm trying to prove a certain someone wrong when he said "there's no way your going to use all 18lbs of apples".  I have made apple butter, an apple pie, and 6 individual freezer apple pies.  That, however, only used 1/2 of the apples, so I'm now searching for more things to make.

We were excited for Reegan to get to pick apples off the trees and we were really hoping she would enjoy herself.  Before heading out to pick, they let us taste-test the different varieties of apples.

Gavin was along for the ride too

Reegan wanted Daddy's help to reach some of the apples way up high.

Stopped for a second for a family photo

We went with the Frenchs and Ellie, Tristan and Reegan had a blast running around together in the trees!

It was such a great day!

Family Photos

I've been working on scrapbooks lately and have been going through photos from the last few years.  It has been bittersweet to see what a tiny baby Reegan started as and now as she's changing once again from toddler into child.  I also can't believe Gavin is almost 4 months and seems to be changing daily.  I'm so afraid I'm going to forget these moments and every time someone reminds me that kids grow up so fast and how their babies are grown, I want to cry a little.  I know, because I'm living it now.  I'm trying to create memories that will stick with all of us forever so I never forget the early days.  This has brought on the yearly family photos.  Honestly, I would love to do this two times a year while the kids are young and changing so much, but we'll see what the future holds.

Here are our fall family photos.  This one is my favorite!  My kids are beautiful!

I now have more pages to add to the scrapbook while I cry softly to myself about how they're getting so big.

(FYI - pictures were taken by Willow Brandt Photography who was recommended to us by our photo-taking friend Allison.  Check them both out!)

Vacation (the final day)

Are you completely sick of hearing about our vacation?  I now need to catch us up, Gavin is 3 months old, we had family pics taken, and a visit to an apple orchard and this coming weekend a trip to pick out pumpkins.  I love this time of year, but it is busy!  This is the last post of vacation, but I wanted to include it because this was the one beach outing that Gavin was awake for.  Every other time he feel asleep on the walk over and stayed asleep no matter how long we were there for.  This time I forced him to stay awake so we could put his feet in the sand and water.  This made me happy, so it was worth it.
This picture didn't turn out as great as I hoped.  All of our feet in the sand.

No sensory issues here, he loved it!

That night Reegan fell fast asleep.  I guess thats what 7 days in the water will do to a girl!
After a long day of sitting in a car, sitting on an airplane, and sitting in an airport, we arrived home in time for dinner.  While we unloaded the car, Reegan ran right to her room to play with her friends.  She told us she missed her teddy's and babies.
The only activity we did not get a great picture was of us paddleboarding.  It was so much fun, kind of a mixture between surfing and canoeing.

Vacation (part 3)

Midweek brought a couple more fun and relaxing days.  We headed to the south end of the island to an area called Sea Pines.  It's known for its shopping area and the Salty Dog Cafe.  We checked out the docks and stopped to snap a few family photos

The girls...

The boys...

The Heines!  :)

Reegan...

Later on in the evening we took the opportunity to go on a sunset dolphin cruise.  There are hundreds of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins around the island and so we hopped on a boat to try to see some of them.

We did find a couple!

They swam all around the boat.

Gavin just enjoyed the fresh air.

On Thursday we ventured over to Savannah, GA to explore the historic downtown area.  We decided to take a trolley tour around town to make sure we saw all of the important things.  First stop - Lady and Sons restaurant.  This is Paula Dean's place and it's a very popular spot for tourists.

So, naturally, we ate there!  It was some pretty good southern cookin'.

The rest of the tour took us around all of the original squares that made up the city back in the colonial days.  The original colonies in America all had 24 squares in their capital cities and Savannah still maintains 21 of those 24.  It was really interesting to see all of these.  Nearly every one had some sort of fountain or statue in the center that signified a piece of American history.  It was really interesting.

I think the kids enjoyed the trolley ride too!

Only one more post on this trip.  We just had SO MANY pictures from our adventure we just keep posting!  Hope you're enjoying them!  :)

Vacation (part 2)

This post is a pretty solid summary of about 70% of our trip.  Hanging out at the house, the beach, and the pool, and Reegan and Gavin being adorable.  :)

Reegan helped Ashley check some emails...

Grammie helped us get Gavin to sleep...

Reegan is really into posing for the camera these days.  Can you tell??

The beach on Hilton Head Island were beautiful.  Nice calm waves, lots of sand to play in, and very small amounts of people.

Reegan really enjoyed making sand castles!  We had a few different sand toys to play with and she loved digging up the sand and filling them.

We worked as a team to create a little fortress...

Nothing fancy, but hey - pretty good for amateurs.  :)

I think Reegan could have done this the entire trip!

And Gavin could have done this the entire trip...

Believe it or not, he was awake some of the time.  And he's such a happy boy!  (He also drools a lot...)

Family photo time

Reegan being a ham.  What's new?

They just love each other!!!  Our beautiful babies.  :)
