We were finally able to get pictures of Reegan with her eyes open. It is not easy when she sleeps for 18 hours a day. This is a classic Reegan face, she makes it all of the time and we just love it!
Look at those beautiful grey/blue eyes!

Lots of firsts
This past week we have experienced a lot of firsts, some more memorable than others. Tuesday night, I gave Reegan her first bath. She really does not like to be naked!
Wednesday afternoon we made our first outing and took her to the doctor. She did very well and didn't even cry when they stuck her heel to draw blood. Good thing for me, because I was NOT looking forward to her crying. She checked out perfectly and is already almost back up to her birth weight.
I made sure to ask the Dr about her rolling onto her side when she sleeps. Is this something I should be concerned about?? Babies are supposed to sleep on their backs! The doctor told us that we have a very strong baby girl and so long as she is not rolling onto her belly that we shouldn't be concerned.
We have seen her roll onto her side many times throughout the past week and her morning nap today was no exception. I love how she keeps her hands by her face! This amazing strength is cute now, but I am nervous that I may have to baby proof the house earlier than expected if she is going to crawl and walk early!

The First Few Days at Home
Well, Reegan is just 5 days old now, and she has already provided numerous memories for us. In the first 72 hours since arriving home from the hospital Jess and I have laughed, cried, oohed, and aahed, and believe it or not, we've actually gotten a decent amount of sleep!
Almost everyone we've talked to or that has come over to our house to meet Reegan has asked one question in particular: How are the dogs doing with her? The answer is - GREAT! They still aren't quite sure what's going on whenever she cries and fusses, but overall Bella and Ginger have been very receptive of her. Bella even tried to get on some play time with Reegan the other night...
I think the one thing that Jess and I have both gotten the biggest thrill out of is just seeing her make funny faces and squirm and twist while she's sleeping. We think she may already have dreams of being a dancer or performer of some kind based on the pose in this picture...

Reegan Noelle Heine
As many of you already know by now, our little baby girl has finally arrived!! Reegan Noelle Heine was born Thursday morning at 4:21 AM. She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 inches long. What an absolute miracle the baby is! It is still so amazing that something can go from being crammed inside a liquid-filled bubble, and then instantly begin breathing and functioning in this world.
Needless to say, there have been tons and tons and tons of pictures taken of Reegan over the past couple of days, and we're including just a few in this post. Rest assured there will be plenty more in the near future. :) These are some of our favorites from the very first moments of her life...

2 Becomes 3...
...well, at least that should be the case in less than 48 hours! Jess went to the doctor today for a follow-up to her weekly sonogram and after discussing things with our doctor, the decision was made to go ahead and have her induced. The amniotic fluid levels were lower than the doctor would like to see, and instead of taking on the increased risk of letting things happen on their own, we thought it would be best to go ahead with inducement. We are both extremely excited, nervous, scared, and overall filled with curiosity about what the next couple of days will entail. One thing we do know for sure though is that by the end of the day Thursday, WE WILL BE PARENTS!! Please keep Jess and our baby girl in your thoughts and prayers. You can certainly also expect another update by the time the weekend arrives (pictures included).

Waiting On Our Baby...
...So Jess is officially tired of being pregnant! And I don't blame her one bit either. I don't know how you women do it. Having something growing and kicking and punching and squirming inside of you for 40 weeks (or more for the even less unfortunate) is definitely a process I'm glad to be watching happen from a safe distance! :) Still, Jess is doing amazingly well with the whole thing in my opinion and with our baby girl's due date just 8 short days away we are getting very nervous and excited for her to finally get here. Below is what I'm assuming will be the very last "belly bump" picture that will be posted on this blog. I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful mother-to-be in my entire life! (I may be a little biased of course)
Over the past several weeks Jess and I have been putting the finishing touches on the nursery. Doing everything from getting clothes and sheets washed (thanks Kim!) and hung and folded to putting the decorations on the walls. We took a few pictures of the finished room for you all to see.
You will notice that the closet has been filled to its limit already! We are so thankful for all of our friends and family who have given our baby girl so many cute outfits to choose from. :)
She's also got two full bookshelves to help keep her organized...not a ton of books on those shelves yet, but it helps us keep things stored for now at least.
A big thanks to Jess' aunt Lisa for the glider that will no doubt come in handy during those late night awakenings. And we got a bunch of picture frames that we will soon be filling with pics of our baby girl!
And last but not least, the CRIB!! This room is definitely complete, and just waiting for a little one to come call it home. If you can read it (the glare kinda makes it difficult) her name is already on the wall. This room has been made just for REEGAN and we truly hope she loves it! We can't wait to meet her! :)
