Changes

There are many changes occuring the Heine household and they all begin with Reegan! She is 6 weeks old (time is flying) and has entered a new, fun stage of life. She still sleeps a lot, but is beginning to give us a little preview of her personality. Here are a few of the changes...

1. Smiling- At about 4 weeks, Reegan started smiling socially. We first thought it was a fluke, but she continue to do it more and more often. I love it, I can't wait until we hear her first little laugh!

2. Eyesight- She still goes cross-eyed fairly often, but now I can see her focusing on objects across the room. We have a picture behind our couch that she stares at every day. She also loves looking outside and has started watching me when I enter/leave the room or am doing something in the kitchen. I have also noticed her watching the TV every now and again...hopefully this isn't a bad habit starting early.

3. "Talking"- OK, she doesn't actually talk, but she has started using her voice. When we talk to her, she often makes noises back at us. Sometimes she gets going and really "tells us a story". We keep trying to get a video of this, but as soon as the video camera comes out, she becomes silent. I am still trying, so hopefully we will have a video soon.

4. Jumping- Ever since she was a couple of weeks old, she has liked when we hold her under her arms and let her "stand". It was amazing, you can tell she is trying to use her leg muscles to stand, but just can't do it yet. Now she bends her knees and straightens them. Every time she does this we lift her into the air like she is jumping. When in the air she pulls those legs up and does it over and over and over. We are going to get some strong shoulders from pushing this 9+ pound girl in the air. She could jump all day if we let her, she seems to really enjoy it.

She is entering into such a fun stage of life. I love how alert she is when she is awake. I know it is just going to get better! She is such a great sleeper at night, I also look forward to the night that I only have to get up once with her! Oh, how great it would be to sleep through the night again...

More Pictures

Since the first time around we were not able to take pictures in Reegan's "2nd outfit", we returned and had a few pictures taken of her in her Easter dress. Click on the link below and scroll past all of the previous pictures of her! You can't miss them.

Go State!

Reegan has been cheering on the Wildcats! She has a couple different K-State outfits already, and has been wearing them proudly. (I personally love the socks!) She did lots and lots of cheering over the weekend as the Wildcats moved onto the Sweet 16. Go Cats!

Out and About

The weather has been nice around here, well until the snow today. Who would have thought that it would snow on the first day of Spring...especially when yesterday it was 60 degrees? We have been able to try out a few new modes of transportation with Reegan in the past couple of weeks. The first was her stroller, which she must love because by the time we reach the end of the street (which is 4 houses) she is fast asleep. The dogs are doing OK walking with the stroller, they often walk in front of it and then get ran over... I think that will cause them to learn fast. Here are a couple of pictures from our first family walk.
Fast asleep...

Last week, I ventured to the grocery store with Reegan while she was supposed to be taking a nap. By the time I pulled into the parking lot, she was awake, quiet but awake. I decided to take her in anyways...she did fine, so long as I held her. After grocery shopping, while holding a baby, and pushing a cart I decided it was time to try out the baby bjorn. She has done pretty well in it while I do the dishes or make breakfast. So far, so good. Next time I feel brave enough for a grocery trip with the baby, I will bring the baby bjorn with me!

One month old

Reegan is now one month old! Friday morning Jason and I took her to her one month check-up. She continues to grow like a champ and now weighs 8 pounds, 14.5 ounces which is the 50%. She has grown 21 7/8 inches (75%) and her head is 14 1/8 inches (35-40%). We don't actually have an official picture from her actual one month birthday (she was very cranky that day!), but we have a couple from the day after. Here are 2 pictures that were taken at the Dr office while we were waiting to be called back. She just loves her dad, look how she's staring at him.
This was taken later that day at home. She has some reflux issues and prefers to sleep sitting up instead of laying down. This boppy works perfectly during naps, because I can sit it on the couch next to me!

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!!

Check 'em out...we had a photo shoot on Saturday morning and our little girl was adorable! She was really good for the first half of the session (because she was asleep...), but before we could get a second outfit on her, she had a bit of a meltdown. Maybe we'll try again soon. For now, we have some amazing pictures of her to share. A big THANK YOU to our friend Lane for taking these for us!

When you click on the link, scroll to the bottom of the page and you should see Reegan's album of pictures. Just click on the image there and you will see all of the pics. :)

Changes

It has only been 3 weeks and already everything with Reegan is different. She continues to change and look more like Jason every day! We are getting professional photos taken on Sat, so we will post those as soon as we can. She still sleeps a lot, but is starting to stay awake for longer stretches of time and those times are becoming a little more consistant. Reegan was weighed again yesterday and now weighs 8 pounds, 5 ounces. I can tell by looking at her that she has grown, she can also fit into many of her sleepers that she couldn't wear last week! I have been told that newborns should gain 1/2 - 1 ounce every day and Reegan is defenitely on the upper end of that! This growth spurt has made it difficult to go anywhere, because I cannot predict when she is going to want to eat. Many times she'll eat a really good meal then fall asleep, so I think she'll sleep for a while and I can get some things done. Wrong... she'll wake up 30 min later and want to eat again. She always seems to want to eat at the worst times too...when I am eating, when I am in the shower, when we are getting ready to leave the house, when I am trying to update the blog, etc. Oh well, it is a good sacrifice to have to make for her to be so incredibly healthy.

The weather is starting to turn around a little bit, so I am planning to take her for a walk outside later this week. I hope she loves her walk as much as I do. We are loving our time with her, just trying to fit our schedules in with hers. Thats all for now...pictures next time.
