Jason attends a conference every year for work and this year it ended up in San Francisco - one of the places we have been longing to visit. I met him down there on Friday after he was done with work stuff.
My flight was 2 hours late getting in so we didn't have time for much besides sightseeing on our way to dinner.Saturday morning we woke up to an overcast, cool day.
We set out to see the town
and it started pouring. Our sightseeing had more indoor stops than we expected so we could dry out.
The locals all told us it never rains in September...hmmm. By lunch time the rain had moved on and the sun came out.
We rode the cable cars like every other tourist who visits!
Drove the curviest street in the US
Then finished the day by walking across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Sunday morning we went to breakfast at the greatest café! They are known for their Irish coffees and they did not disappoint. They also have family style eating, so we ate breakfast with a couple from Northern Ireland on their honeymoon and 3 men from Fresno in town to watch the football game.
Then to Alcatraz Island
We also happened to see some of the America's Cup races.
Lots and lots of seafood was enjoyed
Monday we spent the day in Napa sampling some wineries.
This was a much needed getaway, it has been far too long since Jason and I had a vacation the 2 of us. How nice it was to pick out places to eat without questioning what the kids were going to eat, hold hands with each other, and not have to take a break in the middle of the day for naps. We are looking forward to going back and seeing even more. 4 days was not enough time!
